give love, get happy

Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier. ~ Mother Theresa

Inspirational quotes are [clearly] one of my favorite things. They motivate us to get through our good and bad days, inspire us to seek growth and adventure, teach us lessons and warm our hearts. Love tends to be one of the most – if not the most – common quotational reference, and I love it! Love is something I truly believe should be spread year round. Life is too short not to tell the people closest to you how much you love them, so why wait until a cheesy candy-filled holiday to do so?

Sure, it is all in cute fun that we generously gift our loved ones with conversation hearts, boxes of candy, flowers, balloons, jewelry, gifts… and even I love the Valentine’s Day spirit, albeit being single for the last few V-Day’s. But all the red and pink garb should be the only real difference between today and every other. Thoughtful gifts and displays of affection should be a routine part of any loving friendship or relationship, and I am lucky enough to have many special people in my life to have these types of meaningful, affectionate relationships with.

So don’t sit around waiting for flowers to show up [or not show up] to your doorstep. Don’t look longingly at your friend’s with boyfriend’s Facebook updates wishing you had your dream man around to shower you with gifts. Get out there, and spread the love! Call your relatives, visit your friends at work, give a hug to a stranger. Make your heart smile, go out there and spread the love instead of sitting around and waiting for great things to come to you. Do good, be great, give love, get happy!!
