It’s no secret that when we are told not to do something, fulfilling that act seems all the more tempting. This is why I don’t believe in diets. If your body is craving something, you shouldn’t have to torture yourself and deprive your body of what it is telling you it needs. But that also does not mean go stuff your face and make yourself feel like shit after. The key to fulfilling those craving is to modify. And then, if you are good long enough, a little cheat day never hurt nobody. Just don’t go overboard.
Every once in a blue moon, I crave red meat. I typically don’t stray from fish or chicken, but I had a hankering for a hamburger and wanted to treat myself. But instead of splurging on some greasy drive thru shit, I went to Trader Joe’s and stocket up on modified components: veggie patties, avocado and red potatoes. My little creation was so good, I had it again for lunch the next day [pictured below].
Ironically enough, it just-so-happens to be National Hamburger Month. Again, doesn’t mean you can do a tour-de-fast-food all month long and lose all the hard work you have put in working up to summer. However, every once in a while, it’s ok to cheat and give in to your inner most desire to eat a delicious, greasy, beefy hamburger. My favorite place to indulge? Searsucker, of course. For only ten bucks, you can get a house filet grind with gruyere, onion jam, baconnaise and a hearty side of brown butter fries. Now if that isn’t worth cheating, I don’t know what is!
