Roaring Style

With Halloween come costume parties, and who doesn’t love a reason to dress up? One of this season’s parties was a Roaring Twenties Surprise Party, and everyone really dressed to the nines.

The Roaring Twenties, which have become popular again due to TV shows like Boardwalk Empire and major motion pictures like The Great Gatsby, was a major change for Americans on many fronts. Everyone was dealing with the aftermath of The Great Depression and prohibition by finding their own means to an end, no matter what the consequence. Women broke free of their Victorian roots and began donning sexier fashions and hair styles to coincide with their evolving role in society. So naturally, when the occasion called for the styles of this particular era, ladies tied up their hair, put on their flapper dresses, and let loose on the dance floor, while the men poured mysterious libations under tweed hats and three piece suits. Needless to say the Birthday Boy was surprised when he got home to such a festive fete!
